GM: Additional Recall Affects Millions of Vehicles After History of Accidents

As CEO Mary Barra was preparing to testify before congress about a recall of 2.2 million vehicles which demonstrated an ignition switch problem leading to 13 deaths, a new recall was announced for a problem which can cause a sudden loss of power steering.  The new recall affects an estimated 1.3 million vehicles, some of which were already affected by the ignition switch recall.  Cars included in the recall include Saturn Ion, Chevrolet HHR, Chevy Cobalt, Chevrolet Malibu, Malibu Maxx, Saturn Aura and Pontiac G6.  Some of these models had previously been recalled for the same issue but are being recalled again as the efforts of GM to solve the issue did not go far enough and still present a safety risk.  If you have one of these models of vehicles manufactured between 2004 and 2010, please contact your dealer to determine your rights to a repair.  These defects are major problems and can cause accidents leading to critical injuries or death.

What about the brakes ? In 6 months my back calipurs are bad as well as front rotors and brake pads. Thank God about the ignition switch, nearly killed myself yesterday.why do rotors warp in 10,000iled and number for brake pads wring in the book. How can this be safe, it will cost me almost 1,000 for these repairs. I am on Social Security. How many people died with the wring brake pads put on warped rotors. I don’t believe there have been no accidents. So, they don’t have the parts for my 2004 Malibu steering switch. Am I supposed to wait until it kills me? What’s wring here? Why is this bring ignored. Wring brake pads, no brakes. Great !

How many times should one replace the power steering motor until they figure out that’s not the
    problem.

Had mine replaced in the recall of 2010 for my 2005 cobalt. Didn’t help any. If I remember right, I believe I even had it replaced a 2nd time with no luck.

All problems finally fixed last year (after many years of stalling, gauges going all over on their own, power steering-ABS-traction control lights coming on, shifting hard- then almost no breaks, ect.) …..

Dealership finally got to see all that was happening after years of complaining…it was a few of the modules….bcm not communicating..was getting moisture…..

After a few years of driving my cobalt I started to notice that when it rained or snowed a lot, my car
would start to act up….I hated rainy days and never washed my car!

It’s been about a year since i had the modules replaced and it hasn’t acted up at all. It has been a very bad winter here and it even rained here today…got in my car and not a problem.

Still knocking on wood though…learned habit.

GM needs to recall some modules. moisture building up and then no communication.
